HABITAT FOR HUMANITY, is based on the Biblical injunctive of love for others, justice, and concern for the needy . . .

"If you lend to any of my people with you who is poor, you shall not be to him as a creditor and you shall not exact interest from him."

Exodus 22:25. HABITAT seeks the creation of a living environment full of hope and dignity and the elimination of poverty housing from the earth.

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY INTERNATIONAL was founded in 1976 by Millard and Linda Fuller, Habitat for Humanity international is an ecumenical, Christian housing ministry that seeks to eliminate poverty housing from the world and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. By having needy and affluent people work together in equal partnership, Habitat builds new relationships and a sense of community as well as new housing.

A MESSAGE FROM THE CONSTRUCTION COMMITTEE CHAIR

Miracle on Apperson Way

On December 20, 2008 Habitat for Humanity of Kokomo erected a house at 710 S. Apperson Way. It was scheduled to start a few months ago, but delays in obtaining the property and the weather held us up. We finally got the block laid and the floor pack down just the week before the build day. Many people stepped up to help us make this event happen. On December 16th WWKI radio allowed me to promote Habitat for Humanity on their complete program Mail Call. The results were fantastic, the morning we started it was only 20 degrees but a lot of volunteers showed up to help us perform a miracle. By the end of the day the house was all framed up the roof trusses, decking, and felt paper was installed. All the walls were subsided but the windows and doors were not installed. I am extremely proud of what we accomplished because it was so cold and so close to Christmas that we did not have any idea of how many would show up to help.

My heartfelt Thanks go out to all the individuals that helped and that is not limited to just the people that helped us build, but to all the people in the background that prayed for us. And I cannot forget all the listeners of WWKI’S Mail Call that stepped up to help.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU ! ! ! ! !

So many individuals, businesses and churches help to support Habitat for Humanity of the Kokomo Community. It is with much gratitude that we say thank you for making this ministry possible.

For those furnishing food, having lunch provided on site when work groups are scheduled makes a huge impact on productivity in getting back to work after the lunch break. Thank You for the generosity!!!
